FintechNGR Charts Bold Path at 8th AGM, Unveils Vision for Nigeria’s Digital Future

Lagos, July 9, 2025

The Fintech Association of Nigeria (FintechNGR), Africa’s leading national fintech body, convened its 8th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on July 8 in Lagos, setting a bold trajectory for Nigeria’s digital economy.

The hybrid event brought together luminaries from across Nigeria’s fintech landscape, including members of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, and over 600 institutional and individual members. Dr. Segun Aina, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, opened the session with a call for continued collaboration and visionary leadership to steer Nigeria’s fintech renaissance.

Delivering the President’s address, Dr. Stanley Jacob highlighted the Association’s strategic achievements under its PIE agenda, Participation, Innovation, and Expansion with key milestones including:

  • Growth of active membership to over 600.
  • Deployment of five Communities of Practice (CoPs) driving innovation, policy, cybersecurity, inclusion, and advocacy.
  • Influential roles on national policy bodies including the Open Banking Implementation Committee and NITDA’s Cybersecurity Steering Group.

He also unveiled the theme for the Nigeria Fintech Week 2025: “The Fintech Ecosystem Symphony: Orchestrating Nigeria’s Digital Future.” The event will span four regional hubs and aims to raise over ₦1 billion in revenue and sponsorship, further positioning Nigeria as Africa’s digital finance powerhouse.

Despite a modest dip in income and increased operational costs, the Association’s 2024 audited financials showed strong fiscal health with a liquidity ratio of 4.65:1. Governance reforms, data privacy audit, and enhanced procurement standards underscore FintechNGR’s commitment to transparency and resilience.

Dr. Jacob urged members to champion the Association’s mission as innovators, advocates, and ecosystem builders. “FintechNGR is more than a platform, it is the pulse of Nigeria’s digital evolution and a catalyst for Africa’s financial transformation,” he said.

The AGM reaffirmed FintechNGR’s position as a convener of thought leadership, a driver of inclusive growth, and a key architect of policy shaping Africa’s digital financial future
